Greater Lafayette is fortunate to have so many caring and committed women who volunteer their time and talents to make our community strong, vibrant and fair.
On September 17, the League of Women Voters of Greater Lafayette will honor one such woman with the inaugural Making Democracy Work Award.
Criteria for the award are that the nominee must be a woman aged 50 or older, who is or has been in the workforce and has contributed to the community in a meaningful way.
The League knows there are many worthy women who deserve this honor. We are asking citizens to nominate women they know and admire for their contributions to the wider community for the Making Democracy Work Award. (Current members of the League of Women Voters are not eligible to receive the award.)
To nominate a woman for this honor, please complete the nomination form (Word document). Nominations will be accepted until August 1, 2008. The winner will be honored on Constitution Day, September 17, 2008. Completed nomination forms should be sent to:
